Do I own the land associated with the inch I choose?

No. You are claiming a virtual inch through the My Inch of The Earth® platform, and the associated latitude and longitude coordinates are unique to you. You do not obtain any physical rights to the land, property or place, nor are you responsible for maintaining the location or liable for anything that might happen there.

I signed up, now what?

Once you have completed your Sign Up, you will receive an email asking you to validate your account. Once you've validated, you'll be able to claim and manage your inches by logging in with your email address and password.

What can I do if I don't receive a validation email?

First be sure to check your spam folder. If you still do not have a validation email, click Login at the top of the Home Page and click the "Resend Email" link. The subject will be titled: Welcome to My Inch of The Earth. Please add our email address to your safe list or contacts to ensure emails reach you in the future.

How can I learn more about the causes and organizations associated with My Inch of The Earth®?

On the home page, click on the FOR USERS tab in the menu and then select FIND A CAUSE to browse the nonprofit organizations you can support. To learn more about the organization, click on their logo.

Can I change my inch location or the cause after I have completed my transaction?

No. Upon completion of the transaction the funds go directly to the cause and the location coordinates are reserved in your inches for one year. You can, of course, claim an additional inch and cause.

Can anyone view my inch with my picture and story? Can I make it private?

Yes. You can decide who can see each inch during the inch set up process. Select Public to make your inch and your story accessible to all site users or Private so that only you can view it.

I claimed an inch, but now I want to change my photo or comments. Can I do that?

Yes. Simply Login and select MY STUFF, then MY INCHES within the menu. Click on your inch and then click edit within the preview display. The edit link only appears in your own inches.

Will my personal email address be seen?

No. You will only be identified by the screen name you selected during sign up.

What is a GoodDEED?

Because every inch you choose for a cause is a good deed, we reward you with an official GoodDEED certificate. The GoodDEED certificate acknowledges your exclusive Lat/Long and commemorates your support for a good cause. GoodDEED certificates can also be customized to serve as a gift or as a memorial.

Can I claim an inch as a gift or create a memorial?

Yes. You will have the option of choosing what kind of inch/GoodDEED you would like: personal, gift, or memorial. You can customize the GoodDEED with appropriate information in the form fields provided.

Can I change my GoodDEED once it has been created?

Not at this time. You do have the opportunity to preview your GoodDEED before finalizing.

I lost my GoodDEED, how can I get another?

You can access your GoodDEED by clicking on your name, My Inches and then selecting GoodDEED.

What form of payment do you accept and how will it appear on my statement?

We accept debit or credit cards (MC, Visa, Amex, Discover). Each donation will show on your credit card statement as WePay (awesome processing company) and the name of your chosen nonprofit.

Does my inch expire?

Yes. Every inch claimed is renewed annually; however at Checkout, you can pay for multiple years in advance. The inch will only expire should you choose not to renew.

How will I know when my inch is up for renewal?

You will receive an auto-renewal notice 30 and 15 days prior to expiration. Please note that if you allow your inch to expire, another user can claim that location. You can view your expiration dates for your inches by clicking on your name, My Inches and viewing Renewal Date.

Why should my charity use is intended to complement your online presence and increase your existing fund raising efforts. Our goal is to build a bridge and a more meaningful connection between you and your donor base by giving donors the opportunity to personalize their micro-funding efforts.

Are there sign up fees?

There are absolutely no fees for you to sign up on and you can create your profile in minutes. We charge a small transaction fee on credit card payments, along with a maintenance/hosting fee. All donations to your organization go through our secure donation transaction processing partner WePay, a process which takes less than one minute.

What is your criterion for approving Nonprofits? And who can be listed?

We require all our nonprofits to be organizations described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 and in good standing with the IRS as validated through our third-party partner GuideStar. Additionally, government, civic organizations, and select for-profit organizations that cover a wide range of philanthropic and civic causes may request approval to use the site. We work with national, regional and local groups that all share one common bond: to do something meaningful and good within our communities and around the world. How do we set up our organization so we can begin receiving donations?

What is a "Branded Portal" and who should have one?

A Branded Portal enables your organization to have an independent page, with your own branding and no visibility to competing causes. This significantly increases your ability to funnel more donations towards your cause. In addition, a Branded Portal has a direct link that can be shared through campaign and media releases directing users straight to your portal.

What is a GeoPreserve™ and how can I get one?

GeoPreserves are a super cool feature on In its simplest form, a GeoPreserveā„¢ is a designated map area on the earth or ocean that is dedicated to a specific cause. When an inch within a GeoPreserve is selected, only the cause associated with the GeoPreserve is available for user selection. It's a way of giving a cause exclusive rights to the inches within a pre-determined area. This is a great tool for place-based fund raising. If interested in learning more "Contact Us".

What if we need to edit our information after being listed?

You can edit your information at any time by simply signing in with your user name and password. If you have forgotten your password, simply click on the "Forgot Password?" link within the login form and enter the email address associated with your account. Please "Contact Us" if you need any additional help.

What if we no longer want to be listed?

You can choose to make your organization "Inactive", which will remove your organization from the site. Your profile and all of your account information will be preserved, in case you want to re-activate at a later date. You also have the option to completely remove your organization at any time. What are the transaction/processing fees?

TerraYebo, Inc. charges $3 for the first $12 donated to the organization that goes toward operations and administration of the platform, as well as hosting and all financial transaction fees. Donations over $12 will be charged the base WePay transaction fee plus 5%. While our fees remain below the industry average, our objective is to keep our costs as low as possible. How does my charitable organization get its money?

TerraYebo, Inc. never touches the donation that is meant for your fund raising organization. Through our transaction processing partner, WePay, the donation is paid to you directly and then TerraYebo, Inc. receives its platform and transaction fee. During your simple account setup with WePay, you'll be able to determine how often you receive donations. Charities will be responsible for taxes based on their net income or gross receipts. The fees that TerraYebo, Inc. charge are subject to change at any time at our sole discretion.

What information does TerraYebo, Inc. provide to my nonprofit?

We know how important donor information is to your organization. We provide you donor information on an opt-in basis from users. Full donor analytics can be exported as a .CSV file and include the following: name, email, gender, birth date, postal code, amount of donation, location where inch was chosen, reason for choosing your cause, location/user related interest tags, comments entered by the donor and the date the donation occurred. You have the ability to access Reports, by going to For Nonprofits> Manage My Account>Reports Tab. Select a date range and click "Get Detailed Report." The report will open in a .CSV file.

Are donations secure for our donors?
